Mom2Mom’s Happy Healthy Children program provides direct financial support for extracurricular activities so that children can focus on developing healthy brains, bodies, relationships and overall well-being.
Cassie's Story
As a single mother, Cassie was working constantly to take care of herself and her two children. She was providing all the necessities for her family: food, clothing, and a safe place to call home. But to give her kids any extra opportunities—like soccer or music lessons—meant not having enough for the bare essentials.
Cassie told us that she felt like she was failing her children. She wanted her kids to have access to extracurricular activities and a chance to grow and connect with other kids, but the costs felt insurmountable.
Thanks to the Happy Healthy Children program, Cassie's story didn’t end there. Her kids were able to access music lessons and join a soccer team. The change in them is undeniable—a newfound confidence, better emotional and physical health, and an improved outlook towards life and academics.
The Long-term Benefits of Participating in Extracurricular Activities:

Improvement of
mental health

A stronger sense of peer belonging

Higher levels of academic achievement over time

Development of critical life skills such as leadership, cooperation, communication, self-confidence and peer interaction

Development of positive habits such as time management skills, community involvement and persistence
Children who do not have access to extracurricular activities are at a higher risk for developing health issues such as high blood pressure, obesity, and poor mental health outcomes such as depression and anxiety.
“My children have been doing more sports and doing better in school because of the funding for their programs. [I am] so thankful.”
