Here at Mom2Mom, we are committed to supporting our moms and their children through the COVID-19 pandemic.
All of our moms rely on school meal programs to help feed their children. Now that schools are indefinitely closed and kids are staying home, moms are stretching their budgets to the limit to keep their kids fed. Practicing social distancing means our moms no longer have the option to meet with their relationship volunteer and have limited access to other community services.
Our families are under extreme levels of isolation, anxiety and stress. This is how we are responding to the crisis unfolding in our community:
All of our programs and services have been modified to virtual support. While we are no longer gathering in person, our staff provide support by phone, email and other social media to our moms and our volunteer team. We are also connecting with other providers to collaborate on service delivery.
Our team has conducted a needs assessment over the phone with all 62 Participant Moms to determine their emergent emotional and practical needs, and where possible, provide stress management ideas and resources.
Our staff will continue to do weekly check-ins with our moms by phone, and our incredible volunteers will now provide friendship and emotional support by phone, email and social media.
In partnership with another local organization, our team will deliver non-perishable food items and household supplies to all of our moms whenever possible. These quick, personal touch points will be done at a safe distance, keeping our team and our moms safe.
Most importantly, we will DOUBLE the monthly grocery stipend for all moms by dipping into our Compassion Fund reserves.
Our Compassion Fund reserves are depleting and we need your help to build them up again, so that we can continue to support moms and their kids for as long as this health crisis lasts.
A gift of any amount to the Compassion Fund will ensure our moms can keep food on the table for their children. Will you help a mom feed her family today?
Together, we can offer one another connection, hope and practical support during these uncertain times.
Thank you for caring for Vancouver’s most vulnerable families with us.

Emergency grocery support is making all the difference
for some of our city’s most vulnerable families.
Single mom Catherine recently lost her job due to personal health issues. She is severely immunocompromised and struggles with lung health. Her school-aged daughter remains at home due to the indefinite school closure.
As COVID-19 continues to spread, Catherine and her daughter are taking every precaution to self-isolate, but they still need to access basic necessities like food. It is especially challenging now that school is closed and Catherine’s daughter can no longer rely on school meal programs for nutrition.
For every month this pandemic lasts and social distancing measures remain in place, Catherine will receive a grocery gift card that has twice the regular amount on it. This means Catherine will be able to stock her fridge and keep food on the table for her daughter, and make fewer trips to her nearby Safeway, thereby limiting her potential exposure to COVID-19.
A grocery gift card may seem like a small contribution to someone’s life, but for Catherine and her daughter, it means health, safety and the preservation of family.
No one knows how long this health crisis will last. But amidst the uncertainty, moments of hope and connection are possible because YOU are standing with us. Know that we are grateful for your partnership and that your support is more important than ever before.
