A Safety Net When It’s Needed Most
Raising children is one of the toughest jobs in the world, especially in a city as expensive as Vancouver. For single mothers living in poverty, the challenges can feel insurmountable.
At Mom2Mom, we believe no mother should have to choose between paying rent and feeding her children. That’s why we created the Compassion Fund, a flexible support system that provides direct financial assistance for urgent and unexpected costs.
The Compassion Fund is more than financial support. It’s the difference between a child going to school hungry or having a full lunch. Moms can request support directly, or a relationship volunteer can advocate on their behalf. Each request is reviewed quickly (usually within the same day!), so support reaches families when it matters most.
The Power of Compassion and Community
Imagine being a single parent without anyone to lean on. No one to offer food when you run out of groceries for the week, and your child is hungry. No one to lend support when you have an overdue bill, and your electricity is about to be cut off. No one to call and ask for advice when you feel stuck.
This is the reality for many of the moms we serve.
“A lot of moms have trouble asking for help because of fear of judgment. They don’t have anyone to turn to. That’s where Mom2Mom comes in—we are that pillar of support.” - Caitlin Creaney, Participant Engagement Coordinator
When a mom is connected to Mom2Mom, she becomes part of a community that shows up. Through the Compassion Fund, she can access immediate support for essentials like groceries, formula, and children’s clothing.
We trust that moms know what’s best for their families, and the Compassion Fund empowers them to make the choice.
“We’re not here to judge what a mom needs—our job is to have compassion for their situation. To say yes and allow moms to access that fund exactly how they need it." - Caitlin
This Mother’s Day, you can be a lifeline for single moms by making a gift to the Compassion Fund.
If you make your donation before May 15, it will be matched, dollar for dollar, up to $15,000.
